I like the idea of being able to make reading lists on Bookshop, and I do use it sometimes, but it feels more awkward than it needs to. Moving books around or changing details can be kinda annoying, and a couple times it didnt save things the way I thought it would.
It’s fine if you just want a simple list to keep a few books together, but if you’re trying to really track what you want to read or organize stuff neatly, it feels limited. Not terrible, just not as smooth as I hoped.

I tried ordering a book as a gift, but the whole process felt way more limited than I expected. I couldn’t find an easy gift receipt option or a proper place to add a note at checkout, and I wasn’t even sure what the recipient would end up seeing. I decided to trust my instinct and buy it somewhere else

I ordered one paperback and somehow a completely different book showed up instead. The packing slip even had the right order on it, so I’m not sure where things went wrong. Of course this happened right when I was hoping to start it over the weekend, so the timing was frustrating.

I ordered two books and was disappointed when they arrived. They were both shoved into a thin mailer with no padding at all, so the corners were bent and the covers were scuffed up. The website made it seem like the books would arrive in new condition, so I was confused when they showed up looking like they’d already been handled a bunch. It’s frustrating when you pay for new books and they don’t arrive that way.

I ordered this from Bookshop and felt a little misled by the wording. It was listed as new, so I expected it to arrive in new condition, but the corners were bent and the cover had scratches on it. The book is still readable, sure, but that’s not really the point. The packaging was flimsy and clearly didn’t protect it well enough. Kind of disappointing overall.

Support did eventually get back to me, but it wasn’t exactly quick. i kind of wish I’d read reviews first because it would’ve saved me some frustration. It’s not the worst site I’ve ever used, but the account side definitely needs work...

I used a promo code on bookshop.org and it worked right away. Checkout was quick, my book order went in without any fuss, and there wasn’t really anything to complain about. Always nice when things just work like they’re supposed to.

I tried reaching out to customer service no one ever replied. I waited around thinking maybe they were just busy or backed up (these things happen), but still nothing. Frustrating when you just need a simple response.

My order tracking barely changed the whole time, and I wasn’t really given any clear explanation about what was going on. The book ended up arriving late, and the communication just felt really lacking. I’d be careful ordering if you need something by a specific date, because I didn’t feel like I had much visibility or support

I signed up sometime last month, or maybe it was the end of the month before, and after that my inbox just kept getting hit with emails every single day. It felt like spam after a while. I don’t mind an update here and there, but this was way too much.

I had to cancel my order at the last minute, it was way easier than I expected. No hassle or runaround, which I really appreciated. Definitely a nice option if you want something that’s simple to manage

Setting up the affiliate stuff was straightforward and everything works okay overall. My main gripe is that the reporting can feel slow at times, and it kind of feels like waiting in a queue forever just to see what’s going on. Payouts do come through, but I wish they were a bit quicker.

I’ve been using Bookshop.org mostly when I’m in that mood where I want to read something new but have no idea what I’m looking for. What I like is that the lists from local bookstores feel like they have an actual person behind them, not just a recycled bestseller chart. I’ve definitely stumbled onto a few books I probably would’ve completely missed otherwise.
The recommendations aren’t perfect every time, and every now and then something feels a little off for my taste, but overall they’re still helpful. The site is easy to browse, and I like that the curation feels more thoughtful than a lot of other book sites. I’d give it 4 stars because I really enjoy the discovery side of it, I just wish the suggestions were a bit more consistent.

The books arrived in good shape, so no disaster there, but wow, the shipping felt like it took an eternity. It wasn’t the end of the world or anything, just definitely slower than what I’m used to. Overall, fine experience, just a little more waiting and suspense than I expected.

I liked the place overall, but the prices felt a little too high for what you get... I’d probably come back if things were a bit more affordable.

Tried redeeming the gift card and it just would not work. Spent way too much time messing with it, kinda frustrating and not worth the hassle...

I used Bookshop.org mainly because I like that it supports independent bookstores. I just placed an order recently, so that experience is definitely fresh in my mind. The site was easy to use, and I found the book I was looking for without much trouble. Shipping took a little longer than I expected, and the prices were a bit higher than what I’m used to seeing elsewhere, so that stood out to me. Still, I felt better buying from them than from a huge retailer. It’s not perfect, but I’d probably use it again when I want to support small bookshops...

They had a really good selection, and most of the books I was looking for were actually in stock, which was nice. I didn’t have to spend forever searching or.....
